In playing baccarat you have three options to place your bet on: the player, banker or tie. There are respective square for these bets on the baccarat playing table that can accommodate up to 14 players. Only two hands are dealt in baccarat composed of two cards each and it goes to the player hand and the banker hand. There is only one player hand regardless of how many players there are on the baccarat table.
In order to win you must place your bet on the hand whose sum total is closest to nine. And you make this bet at the start of the game before the cards are drawn. The value of the number cards remains the same while the value of face cards is zero. So if the banker holds a jack and a nine, the sum total of that hand is nine. If the sum total exceeds nine, a value of 10 is subtracted from the total hand value. So if the player hand has a nine and eight, the value of that hand is seven.
The player hand is revealed first before the banker's hand. If the player hand totals nine, it is called natural. When the player hands opens to a sum total of nine, the round is over and a new game begins. If none of the hands equal to a nine, cards will be dealt again and bets are renewed.
If the player hand totals six or seven, it is a stand. If the total is zero to five, another card is drawn.
The banker hand is a bit complicated because it has a set of conditions to stand or draw another card. And it is this part that confused many casino players. As for the banker hand, stand happens when the total is seven to nine. Another card is drawn if the total of the banker hand is zero to two.
